The advising syllabus is an important step toward the understanding of academic advising as a legitimate educational process that can support the mission of the institution. Just as a course syllabus helps to articulate the educational and learning outcomes of a course, the advising syllabus provides similar information specific to the advising process. It helps to clarify goals, expectations and responsibilities for both the advisor and advisee.
This template can be used by any department on campus that does academic advising or by individual advisors. It can be modified to fit each department and to provide unique information that may be relevant only to that particular department.
